How Switches Work
Switches are used every day in every facet of our lives. They are used to turn on and off lights and appliances. they work by bringing two contacts together. In the case of home or office wiring, these are referred to as snap switches. They hold the contacts under a certain tension. When turned on they release that tension, snapping together rapidly, and holding fast. When turned off they release an opposite tension and rapidly snap apart the contacts.
